The Original Viennese Salon Ensemble has been dedicated for years to preserving traditional Viennese salon music and its many relatives and influences. Since its founding in 2006, the ensemble has performed on various national and international concert stages, committed to promoting this music as ambassadors of the unique and multicultural lifestyle of the beautiful Danube metropolis.
The ensemble’s diverse repertoire spans from Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart, and Schubert to Lanner and the Strauss dynasty, as well as Fritz Kreisler, Franz Grothe, Henry Mancini, and Astor Piazzolla, to name just a few. Collaborations with national and international artists from classical to pop music also form a key aspect of their work.
Moreover, the Original Viennese Salon Ensemble is a sought-after partner for TV productions (such as “Wir sind Kaiser” with Robert Palfrader for ORF), CD recordings, and has been nominated for the Amadeus Music Award with their albums, “Endlich Salonfähig” (2020) and “Sinfonien im Souterrain” (2024), a collaboration with the duo Wiener Blond.
Their legendary 2021 concert at the Donauinselfest, under the direction of Christian Kolonovits, featuring icons of Austro-pop, both living and deceased, highlighted the ensemble’s ever-youthful enthusiasm for making music.
